@Grow Elephant Community Garden
Opening 18th June 2016
We welcome corporate groups who are keen to get their hands dirty and would like to help us out on a day long session of community gardening. This sort of volunteering can work as a great team building exercise, but one that has a real socially beneficial legacy. We organise such workdays on a fairly regular basis between spring and autumn. We usually require a donation towards the cost of planning and running these volunteer days so that they go smoothly and everyone enjoys them is actually quite time consuming and hard work. We usually have a range of potential projects we could use assistance with, depending on the time of year, group size and available budget. Some potential projects would require additional funding for materials in order to realise.
We are always looking for volunteers to help us with our work. We organise at least one public access volunteering session every week in season at Grow Elephant Community Garden, and rely on volunteers to help us grow vegetables for cafe and keep the garden looking beautiful. If you are interested in volunteering at the community garden or on any of our other projects contact email@example.com or come along and join us at one of the garden events listed on our events page.
If you'd like to get more involved and are happy to commit to volunteering with us on a regular basis we offer garden membership, which gives you access to the members only area of the community garden and a small plot where you can grow your own flowers/fruit/veg. We are also looking for volunteers who can help us out with fundraising, community outreach, events, graphics and publicity. If you are interested in any of the above then please come along to one of our monthly steering group meetings which are normal held on the first Wednesday of every month.

Welcome to Grow Elephant.
Our mission is to help communities across Elephant and Castle and Walworth with improving the quality of our local environment. We run gardening clubs with local TRAs and schools, and are happy to help any local residents who need some advice about getting a gardening project going on their own street or estate. We're always looking for new volunteers to help us with our work.
Our main hub is Grow Elephant Community Garden on New Kent Road, where we organise regular gardening workshops, volunteering sessions, and propogate plants for use on our projects across Elephant and Castle. The garden is also an important social space for the local community and we host
a range of events, organised both by ourselves and other community groups, from film screenings, to talks and live music. We welcome suggestions and proposals for events that we could host in the future.
We are in the process of building an onsite cafe, Tropics, that will open on the 18th June 016.
